Book Review: Tales for Delicious Girls by Barbara KnobovaSelf-help | Relationships
First Line: Looking back at some of my serious relationships, would-be relationships, love affairs and relationships beyond any definition, my mind boggles at all those things I was (almost) able to do for men.

Tales for Delicious Girls is a collection of short and fun anecdotes about real women and their relationships. Most often, Barbara Knobova draws upon her own personal experiences or those that she has observed among her acquaintances.
From page 13Stories include men who cannot handle successful women who may accomplish and earn more than them; who fail to mention that they may be in another committed relationship; who are deep down a momma's boy; who do not fully appreciate what women do for them; who are looking for a sugar mama; and who do not get along with dogs who demand everyone's full attention. Each story ends with a message meant to empower, enlighten, and excite women to realize and value their self-worth.
There are many theories according to which women supposedly choose their life partners, lovers, husbands, or just guys that they sometimes date. Some of us choose men who resemble our father. Others choose the exact opposites of their fathers, but still end up with spitting images of their procreators because that's the way it's programmed in their heads, and therefore they can't help it. Some women choose wealthy men who maintain them, while others prefer unemployed losers whom they try to save. Some women like rebels who are incredibly sexy but impossible to live with. Other women look for a hybrid between a dog and a doormat who is loyal, obedient and always to be found exactly where he's been left, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
Page 109I would probably recommend Tales for Delicious Girls as a book to read when you are feeling under the weather. Several of the stories made me smile and laugh at how predictable some of the male archetypes were. Barbara Knobova definitely entertains and provides excellent food for thought for all women of all ages. While she mainly focuses on relationships, she also spends time on the perception of age, beauty (e.g. breasts...or lack thereof), and female rivalry. Tales for Delicious Girls celebrates the existence of women and encourages the pursuit of healthy relationships as well as the love for oneself, no matter how bad things get.
Let's stop struggling to solve the puzzles of men's behaviour once and for all. Let's not look for excuses, explanations and metaphysically complicated reasons. Instead of Adonises, let's put ourselves on the pedestal, our self-esteem and our uniqueness. Let's set the limits without allowing anyone to overstep them. Let's finally admit that a man who is indifferent to our feelings, needs and desires simply doesn't love us. And therefore he doesn't deserve a place in our life, in our heart or in our bed.
If you enjoyed my little red book, then this is right up the same alley of great humor and seriousness in regards to female issues.
