FIRST LINE :: ARC :: Tears were spilling down Teagan Wylltson’s cheeks as she went up the stairs

SUMMARY :: from the B&N website
Teagan, Finn, and Aiden have made it out of Mag Mell alive, but the Dark Man’s forces are hot on their heels. Back in Chicago, Tea’s goblin cousins show up at her school, sure she will come back to Mag Mell, as goblin blood is never passive once awoken. Soon she will belong to Fear Doirich and join them. In the meantime, they are happy to entertain themselves by trying to seduce, kidnap, or kill Tea’s family and friends.

Tea knows she doesn’t have much time left, and she refuses to leave Finn or her family to be tortured and killed. A wild Stormrider, born to rule and reign, is growing stronger inside her. But as long as she can hold on, she’s still Teagan Wylltson, who plans to be a veterinarian and who heals the sick and hurting. The disease that’s destroying her—that’s destroying them all—has a name: Fear Doirich. And Teagan Wylltson is not going to let him win.
REVIEW ::
Tyger, Tyger was an unexpected delight, and it should come as no surprise that Kersten Hamilton continues the tradition with its sequel In The Forests Of The Night. This series rolls around in all the best ingredients to make an unforgettable read – charming, exciting, heart-breaking, game-changing, and all sorts of fun – I will be quite sad when this all ends because it will be like saying goodbye to a group of good friends.

THE GOOD BITS
{Characters} Teagan may be the star player, but she is more than willing to share the spotlight with her family and friends. Kersten Hamilton has developed such a colorful cast of characters who either have stories to tell or provide the comic relief in an otherwise dark book. More to the point, these characters felt so real that I can easily imagine their family dinner conversations and sense how strong their bond to each other was. I loved seeing all the old characters again and meeting the new ones who had enough charm to stand out on their own. It might sound strange, but these characters felt so much like family that I could not help but to love them like my own!

{Teagan + Finn} These two are just too darn cute that I am glad that they don’t ever melt into a sickening gob of love. Instead, they seem perfectly able to function without the other – and they are both stubborn enough to not listen to each other’s protest of wanting to go into Mag Mell alone. I love every moment they teased each other because it demonstrates how sure-footed their relationship is. I don’t think anyone can break them apart, especially after this book where everyone – including Teagan herself – questions their love.

THE BAD BITS
{Waiting for Book 3 now!} Enough said.

THE OVERALL
In The Forests Of The Night definitely showcases Kersten Hamilton’s storytelling abilities. Not only does the story breathes to life a dark and dangerous mythology, it also provides a few moments of charm and comedy that make these characters unforgettable and all too lovable!

  1. I've heard about the 1st book and it looks like the second is great too. I'm glad that the story is fun because for some reason I thought it'd be really serious.

    1. There are serious parts (and nail-bitingly scary bits), but the characters seem to have a rather good sense of humor that balance the story out. Seriously though, Kersten Hamilton knows how to make time fly!

    1. Yes, they are stinkin' cute without actually being too PDA. I love how certain Finn is about his feelings despite Teagan's efforts to keep him at a yard's end for his safety. :)

  3. Um, I should really read the first book first. I'm so wary of series these days that it makes me hesitant to pick one up the moment I smell a series coming. This sounds so promising.

    1. I totally get that! I am tired as well - and I am trying to be choosier, but sometimes a book sounds SO good that I cannot help but read it despite knowing that there will most certainly be a cliffhanger. This series is rather fun though - and I think the action is just about to pick up in Book 3!
